Nuit de Chine

Nuit de Chine au Grand Palais, placed under the patronage of Mr François Hollande, President of the Republic, was the first event of the official celebration for the 50th anniversary of the diplomatic relationship between France and China.
Below the glass roof of the great nave transformed for the event, Chinese and French artists were surrounded by the public in a spectacular staging of images, sounds and lights, under the direction of Patrick Bouchain, Thierry Dreyfus, Chen Weiya and Pierre Giner, creating an original video for the exceptional scenography.
Opening the ceremony was solo pianist Wu Muye. A previously unseen performance from Bartabas inaugurated the year of horse, warming up the Chinese new year’s day celebrations on the 31st of January.
Nuit de Chine au Grand Palais came to an end with a Patrick Vidal DJ set and a live of the Beijing-based rock band Carsick cars, plunging the Grand Palais into an electronic atmosphere, open to everyone.

The event was curated by Renaud Donnedieu De Vabres, the former French cultural minister and produced by the French production agency ARTER.

China Art Management was in charge of following up the collaboration between the French part and the Chinese artists and partners.
