Fashion designer Shuting Qiu created a large-scale tapestry for Hennessy
To celebrate Chinese New year 2025, Hennessy commissioned fashion designer Shuting Qiu to create a large-scale tapestry with the snake as the central theme.
To kick off the collaboration, Hennessy invited young fashion designer Shuting Qiu to Cognac to explore the brand’s heritage. The trip provided Shuting Qiu with abundant inspiration to create the artwork.
She began by sketching patterns and creating prints using jacquards, Suzhou embroideries, and sequins, blending them together to design a large-scale (3m x 2m), double-sided tapestry artwork featuring the snake as the central figure.

About Shuting Qiu
Currently based in Shanghai, the Chinese-born designer Shuting Qiu holds an MA and BA in Fashion from the Royal Academy in Antwerp. Her eponymous brand, SHUTING QIU embodies a refined femininity, showcasing a “modern romantic” archetype – bold, self-reliant, yet inherently delicate. Qiu’s creations dare to venture into asymmetry and silhouette experimentation, resulting in a vibrant clash of silk jacquards, elaborate embroideries, and a harmony of linear and floral motifs.
Thanks to Somexing Agency, I had the privilege of contributing to this project — providing expert guidance to Hennessy to find the perfect match for this art collaboration.
