Material of the future: A project run by Asian Art Archive
Asian Art Archive (AAA) is running a project online call “Material of the future“. where you can find really valuable interviews of art personalities (renowned artists and curators) sharing their life experience. Their story document Chinese contemporary art from 1980-1990. Among the interviews presented, you can listen to Gao Minglu, Gu Wenda, Ding Yi, Fei Dawei, Hou Hanru, Huang Rui, Huang Yongping, Wang Du, Wang Jianwei, Wang Guangyi, Wang Keping, Xu Bing, Zhang Dali, Zhang Peili and so on.
The project is more than a series of interview in fact AAA has collected hundreds of texts published during the 1980s, completed 75 video-taped interviews, produced a documentary film, and digitized the personal archives of renowned artists and curators. With a total of over 70,000 digital documents and publications, AAA now maintains the world’s largest and most systematically organized archive of documentary material on the period. This scholarly resource is freely accessible and open to the public from AAA’s physical premises and from this purposely built website.
