RIP Cui Xiuwen throwback in 2011 : Cui Xiuwen’s interview
In 2010, I had the chance to interview Cui Xiuwen about her series “Existential Emptiness” in her studio. Today in her memory, I would like to share the interview that was published in Gallery Guide Hong Kong in February 2011.
“Art marking is a way of expression, my works are the representation of my understanding of life. “
“Through introspection I process my experiences and feelings about self-awareness in the world. I used all of those elements, related to my soul-searching in my newest series. “
“Despite the difficulties, I want to give myself more space to expand and to keep creating so that I can help people achieve their own self-awareness. “
“I truly believe that the most important thing that art can provide is independence and intellectual freedom.”
Here I also would like to thank Cristina Sanchez Kozyreva for giving me at that time the opportunity to interview Cui Xiuwen.
